WAFC CEO to commence new chapter

WEST Australian Football Commission CEO Wayne Bradshaw has announced his resignation after 10 years in the role.

Mr Bradshaw said that after careful consideration he had come to the conclusion that it was time to seek new challenges and commence the next chapter of his career.

“I feel like the time is right to make a change and look at new opportunities,” Mr Bradshaw said.

“I think WA football is in very good shape. A new stadium has been announced, our AFL teams are in a strong position both on and off the field, the WAFL competition is continuing its resurgence, and overall participation rates are at an all-time high.

“Great work is being done in the community to deliver significant social benefits through football and WA’s district development model continues to be the envy of Australia.

“Of course there are many challenges still to be met and an exciting era ahead for football in WA. I am confident that the WAFC and whoever is appointed as the new CEO will be well equipped to tackle these challenges and lead WA football into the future,” he said.

Mr Bradshaw will finish in his role at the end of the year, concluding 19 years with the WAFC, which has included a decade as CEO.

“It has been a very enjoyable role and I am proud of the WAFC’s achievements over this period. We have great staff and have done some outstanding work but I think it is good for the WAFC that new blood and life is added to the organisation.

“I thank everyone that has been involved with these achievements during my time as CEO and look forward to entering an exciting new chapter of my life.”

Mr Bradshaw will explore a range of possibilities for his next career move in coming weeks.

WAFC Chairman Frank Cooper congratulated Mr Bradshaw on his outstanding contribution to the WAFC and leadership through a period that saw football in Western Australia engage much more closely with the community.

“Wayne has been an excellent leader for football in WA and indeed the community of Western Australia during his 19 years at the WAFC and in particular during his 10 years as CEO.

“He has always focussed on the importance of all levels of the game, particularly our grassroots development activities and the role of football in our community. His focus on the importance of people has been fundamental to achieving the results we have.

“There is no doubt his loyalty and commitment to the team at the WAFC has been a significant factor in the progress we have made in outcomes over the years.

“We wish Wayne every success in his future challenges and say a sincere thank you for his outstanding contribution as CEO of the WAFC.”
