The Amcap/New Holland WA State Country team started the second day of the Landmark Australian Country Football Carnival with a win against Vic Districts 3.6.24 to Vic 3.3.21.
According to WACFL General Manager, Cameron Knapton, the team was extremely pleased to come away with their first win of the carnival despite not playing their best football.
“We were all over them but to be honest kept them in the game with inaccurate kicking,” said Mr Knapton.
Best players for WA were Tom Collins, Luke Bairstow, Kris Clarkson and Adam Walsh.
Single goals to Adam Walsh, David McKinlay and Jon Price
In their second game of the day WA came up against Vic Major – a team vying for the national title after only losing one game so far at the carnival.
Despite having the same number of scoring shots WA went down 3.4 (22) to 7.0 (42).
Cameron Knapton said that despite the loss the team still has a chance of making the top four.
“In that game we were very competitive. We’re starting to play some better football and we could sneak into fourth if we win our last game this afternoon against Queensland and the results go our way,” said Mr Knapton.
Best players for WA were Troy Ditchburn, Liam Carlyon and Kris Clarkson.
