Nat Fyfe is another successful player who has made the transition from Country Football to the AFL, with the support of the QR National Freight (formerly ARG) scholarship funding.
Nat Fyfe received an ARG AFL Draftee Award in 2009. Originally from Lake Grace, Fyfe made his debut in the round 5, 2010 Len Hall Game against Richmond.
He announced his arrival in the AFL with a soaring pack mark. Nat was a panel beater prior to becoming one of the AFL’s brightest stars.
He has taken his game to a new level in 2011 in just his second season of AFL Football.
Fyfe started the season in fine touch with 29 possessions against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba and he has continued his sublime form in the first month of competition.
He collected 32 possessions and kicked two goals in the round 4 win over the Kangaroos.
A week later he was nominated for Goal of the Week after a brilliant snap against West Coast.
The exciting mid-sized forward earned a NAB Rising Star nomination after gathering 23 disposals in Fremantle’s win over the Sydney Swans at the SCG.
The classy right-footer knows tough match-ups will continue to come his way with each impressive game but that is only going to leave more breathing space for the likes of Matthew Pavlich, David Mundy and Stephen Hill.
