PREMIER LEAGUE
The Premier League Grand Final lived up to the hype. Coastal Titans and East Fremantle fought for top spot all year, and it was fitting to see them meet in the final game of the year.
Titans were out of the block fast with an early goal in the first 20 seconds of the game from Katika Adams. Across the East Fremantle half forward line, players were getting physical, trying to assert their dominance on the game.
Titans continued to use the ball well, however it was the Sharks 2 time fairest and best Mel Caulfield who was able to break the lines with her run and carry. Late in the term the crowd was brought to their feet with a great hanger taken by Titans Renee Forth.
In the Second, East Fremantle controlled the ball, but couldn’t convert on the score board. The strong marking of the Elly Lambkin in the Titans backline had the sharks jittery. In the final minute the Sharks converted, and took East Fremantle into the break with the momentum.
Both teams showed great skills in the second half, with East Fremantle beginning to make the most of their opportunities. In the end, the game was sealed with a 35m Snap on goal by retiring East Fremantle great Nikki Harwood. The Sharks held the ball well through the midfield, and ruck Leah Kaslar was awarded the Lou Knitter Best on Ground.

DIVISION 1
In a replay of the 2010 Division 2 Grand Final, South Fremantle and Peel Thunderbirds were no strangers to Grand Final pressure. South Fremantle showed great skills early, but Thunderbirds got in first with two quick goals. The Bulldogs had their chances, but missed easy set shots.
The Bulldogs came out firing in the second quarter, with Peel giving away too many free kicks. South Fremantle displayed great skills through goal
sneak Heidi Schlesniak and mid Fielder Chae Salbie, sending the teams into the break with scores tied.
Early in the third, Thunderbirds were desperate for the ball. The game quickly became fiery, with Peel Captain Alyce Mullet receiving a free kick inside the square that resulted in South Fremantle player Jodie Vamvas being yellow carded.
But that was the tipping point for South Fremantle, with Salbie breaking the lines through the middle and Jenna Allomes a rock in defence. With Peel unable to penetrate their forward line, Erin Chalwell steadied the Doggies at the other end, kicking truly with two goals on the trot.
In the final quarter South Fremantle kicked away through Salbie and it appeared to be all over. Thunderbirds fought valiantly until the end, but it wasn’t enough. Allomes remained strong in defence and earned herself Best on Ground.

DIVISION 2
The battle of the two newest WA Womens Football League Clubs was played out between SNESA Angels and Mt Lawley Hawks. It was a hard hitting affair, with both teams laying strong tackles in the first quarter.
Clean possession was hard to come by, until Angels player Bronwyn Hansen broke through to clear the ball out to full forward Aleisha Duncan, setting up a shot on goal. SNESA’s Skills continued to pick up over the quarter, with Caitlyn Edwards taking two bounces down the wing.
The second quarter took up where the first left off, with SNESA scoring early through Cat Bull. Mt Lawley had plenty of chances, but rushed the ball and scored a number of behinds. SNESA’s Bianca Stalenhoef was added to the mix and had an instant impact with her run and carry. Mt Lawley continued to push forward and eventually kicked their first goal though strong forward Kirsten Sterle.
The second half was a reasonably one sided affair, with flashes of brilliance from Hawks' playing-coach Carolyn Hills taking a strong mark and playing on to create opportunities. The hard tackling continued as SNESA kicked away. The brilliance continued from both teams, with Stalenhoef breaking the lines and Hansen taking a great mark.
The final score didn’t illustrate the true intensity of the game, with the SNESA Angels taking better advantage of their opportunities. Five goals from the Angels Aleisha Duncan had her named Best on Ground.
