Lions Pride Return To Community Football

Tuesday 18th May saw the Subiaco Football Club players take a break from their regular training routine and return to where many of them got their initial start, their junior community football club. Players from all three grades (League, Reserves and Colts) were allocated to their club of origin to conduct a junior training visit

The visit was spread across 38 teams and 18 different venues with all players aiding in the delivery of training and relaying their experiences of junior football and the positive impact this had on their development

Smarter Than Smoking Development Officer, Ben Haywood and Player Development Officer Jason Hoskins made their way around the different venues on Tuesday night and were very pleased with the efforts of all involved.  “It’s easy to underestimate the importance of being a role model, the impact a senior player can have on junior footballers is quite phenomenal.  The way in which the Subiaco Football Club players represented both the club and themselves at this visit is of great credit to them.” Haywood said.

“All junior players got a real buzz out of having a kick with the likes of Darren Rumble, Ben Keevers, Blake Broadhurst and Adam Campbell. The Subiaco Football Club players also reinforced that football was all about having fun, playing with their friends, a game which their family can become involved and as a means of keeping fit and healthy”

The Subiaco District is grateful for the support of all evolved in this promotion and it is hoped that this can be one of many initiatives that will see the continued development that the Subiaco Football Club provides to the wider community.
