The Subiaco District annual Auskick gala day was held last Saturday at Kingsway Reserve, hosted in fine style by the Kingsway Rockets Junior Football Club.
Seven clubs participated with approximately 70 teams playing in a round robin format, energetically supported by hundreds of parents and supporters. Almost 1000 footballers played on nine ovals in games umpired by most of the Subiaco Football Club WAFL stars.
2011 is the 20th year the Lions have supported this wonderful gala day.
Kingsway JFC representative Ray Buscall (Club Registrar), who is one of many of our games fantastic volunteers that underpin the delivery of junior football in their community, was satisfied to look over the hundreds of people enjoying the club's great facilities and hospitality.
WAFC Manager of Community Development, Warren Nel, attended the gala day and reflected on the occasion by stating “There is nothing better than the loud pitched chorus of hundreds and hundreds of kids expressing their enjoyment or excitement of playing footy.
“The Kingsway Rockets have hosted the day in style and the Club, the Subiaco District, Subiaco Football Club and fellow participating clubs should be congratulated on a fine effort.”
Over the day many budding stars played in 204 games of footy enjoying their part in the states 24,000 strong NAB AFL Auskick program in Western Australia.
