2010 NAB AFL Auskick competitions

There are some exciting competition initiatives for Auskick participants and centres this season, with NAB and the AFL Auskick program again providing three great opportunities for stakeholders.

Last year WA and Victoria lead the way by having the most number of participants and clubs involved - via promoting these initiatives.

New faces at AFL Auskick

WESTERN Australia's AFL Auskick team has welcomed two new members following the departure of Auskick Assistant for the last three years, Kym Buck.

Halley Pullyblank and Jennifer Jenaway will now share the role and work with AFL Auskick centers and coordinators to gear up for another huge season of Auskick in 2010.

WA AFL Auskick Manager Clayton Anderson said he was delighted to welcome Hayley and Jennifer to the team and thanked Kym Buck for her outstanding effort over the last three seasons.

Outstanding figures for WA Auskick

THE outstanding success of Western Australia’s Auskick program continued in 2009, with more than 22,000 children participating in the competition – almost 10 times the number that kicked off in 1990.

Two decades on from its commencement, Auskick in WA produced an astounding participation rate of 22,638 for 2009, which has steadily increased from 2655 when modified rules started as ‘Freeball’ in 1990.

Peel claims Nicky Winmar Cup

PEEL took out the 2009 Nicky Winmar Cup at Bendigo Bank Stadium in Mandurah last week, defeating a combined Metro North side by 10 goals in a dominant Grand Final display.

The Nicky Winmar Cup was played as a 16’s Carnival for indigenous youth, with five teams competing for the Cup from the South West, Central Great Southern and Peel, as well as the metropolitan area.

The carnival was played in a round-robin format, with Peel and Metro North losing one game each to qualify for the Grand Final.
