This weeks’ WA Women’s Football League match of the round is the highly anticipated Grand Final rematch between the two WAWFL powerhouses Swan Districts and Coastal Titans.

Since the beginning of the year the Titans and Swans have been one and two on the ladder respectively, eyeing each other off waiting to test themselves against the best.

Now, with only four weeks left until finals, they get the opportunity.

The two sides first met back in Round 1 when Coastal Titans defeated the Swans by 6 points, but that was a Swans team without reigning WAWFL Best and Fairest Chelsea Randall.

When the teams met for the second time in Round 7 the result was reversed, with the Swans coming from 5 points down at half time to run out 3 point winners.

Since that match neither side has lost another game, both now sitting on 9 wins and 2 losses, and the winner of this weekends’ match will almost certainly finish on top of the ladder.

Coastal Titans have home ground advantage with the game taking place at Grenville Reserve but Swan Districts will come into the game confident of causing an upset having beaten the Titans twice in their past three encounters, including the 2013 Grand Final.

The Premiership was the Swan Districts first Division One flag in the clubs history and a win this Sunday would put them in the box seat to go back-to-back in 2014.

Standing in their way however is the most successful club in the history of the WA Women’s Football League, the Coastal Titans, who will be looking for redemption and a little bit of payback.

After joining the competition 11 seasons ago the Coastal Titans have played in every Grand Final – 10 in total – and have won six premierships.

They have dominated nearly every side over the past decade and will be looking to gain the mental edge on Swan Districts as the two sides look destined to once again renew their rivalry in the finals.

Swan Districts star Chelsea Randall will prove to be a key player in the game, and the Titans will also need to shut down 2013 Lou Knitter Medallist Kellie Gibson who was awarded Best on Ground in the 2013 Grand Final.

For the Titans, Kiara Bowers, who shared 2013 Division One Best and Fairest honours with Randall, could prove to be a key player in order to gain the lead.
