WA winner claims Toyota Good for Footy Raffle major prizeFriday, October 9, 2015 - 1:30 PM

Community football clubs around Australia are celebrating thanks to the Toyota Good for Footy Raffle.

The raffle, which kicked off for the first time nationally in 2015, proved a huge success with more than $387,000 raised across 249 football clubs.

Toyota, the AFL and the West Australian Football Commission teamed up to create the raffles with one goal in mind — to make it easy for clubs to raise as much money as possible.

The raffle was rolled out across seven states and territories to make it one of the largest grassroots fundraisers ever seen in Australia.

Clubs registered online to receive free raffle books and sell tickets for $5 each, keeping 100% of the proceeds.

Toyota provided additional help to some clubs by inviting them to sell tickets at blockbuster AFL games and provided AFL stars such as Jarryd Roughead for inspirational fundraising events.

There were plenty of top quality prizes up for grabs, but when the final siren sounded on the raffle, Danielle Nohra (National Raffle) and Tanya Eliot (WA Raffle) were the lucky winners of a New-Look Camry Atara SX, while Daniel Jackson won the Toyota Yaris ZR (National Raffle).

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said the raffle supported the AFL’s goal to support suburban and regional football clubs across the country, inspiring the next generation of fans, players and volunteers.

“Toyota has always been a fantastic partner of the AFL and our efforts to grow and support community football,” he said.

“The Toyota Good for Footy Raffle is a great initiative because it simply makes it easy for grassroots clubs to raise much needed funds.”

“Toyota’s generosity in donating new cars for this cause illustrates their commitment to all levels of football and we thank them for their continued support.”

Brad Cramb, Divisional Manager - National Marketing, Toyota Motor Corporation Australia said: “To raise $387,000 in the raffle’s first year is a brilliant result and we couldn’t be happier. Ultimately the success means that 249 clubs around Australia are now stronger, with the opportunity to create better facilities and a better environment. That’s a huge win for everyone.”

AFL champion and Toyota Good for Footy Ambassador Adam Goodes understands the need to keep local clubs kicking on.

“I couldn’t have played 372 AFL games if it wasn’t for the support of my local junior footy club. It’s been great teaming up with Toyota to help give back to these kind of clubs because they really are the heartbeat of sporting communities right around Australia,” he said.
