AFL School Ambassador Program
The AFL School Ambassador (AFLSA) program aims to resource, recognise, motivate and reward teachers who strongly promote the game of Australian Football in their school and their community.
Over 1000 WA Primary and Secondary teachers have joined this national program since its inception here in 2004. Free professional development opportunities will be available throughout the year. Contact Sharon for details on 9381 5599 or

To assist teachers to carry out their role the AFL provides a selection of the following:

- Polo top and bag
- Curriculum resources
- Footy tipping poster and cards
- AFL Season fixture pen

Years 1, 2, 3 Clinics (conducted February to May)
"NAB AFL Auskick Program" refers to years 1-3, whilst “NAB AFL Junior Rules” refers to years 4-7.
- Designed to raise the awareness of NAB AFL Auskick
- February until week four of Term Two
- Each class will run for 30 minutes and will include exciting promotional give-aways
Years 4-7 Clinics (May to August)
- Sessions involving a maximum of six (6) x years 4 to 7 classes
- Every Coaching Clinic will involve a WAFC FDO or WAFL Player
Years 4-7 Development Programs (May to August)
- One session per class per week (maximum of 6 classes per school) for 3 weeks by a WAFC FDO
- On-going and sequentially developed program to develop overall motor-coordination and basic footy skills
- Targeted at schools without a physical education specialist or a comprehensive on-going AFL Junior Rules program'
Player Appearances
- Players are available to attend school assemblies or to take classes for selected sessions (subject to player availability)
Design a Football Jumper Competition (March to April)
- Design a new jumper for the school football team
- Use local landmarks, school ethos, population, location etc
- The 2 major prizes are a set of jumpers in the winning design presented to the winning schools (one country, one metro)

Patersons Stadium, provides an exciting opportunity for school students to enhance their learning with a visit to the Stadium.
Preference will be given to those schools with current AFL School Ambassadors.

Fremantle Dockers Community Goals
The Fremantle Dockers Community Goals focuses on the development and delivery of a range of exciting and innovative programs aimed at primary school aged children. The programs offer tangible benefits through learning in a fun and participative framework and importantly all programs are linked. Click here for more information.
Freo Dockers Cup (conducted May to August)
The WA Football Commission in conjunction with the Fremantle Dockers Football Club have come together to introduce a brand new initiative for primary aged Year 5,6,7 females: The "Freo Dockers Cup".
FORMAT
- Open to all primary schools across the state
- Can be run in two formats:
- A "round robin" competition played between schools over a minimum of three weeks.
or - A "one day" Lightning Carnival organised by the schools in their District/or one coordinated by their WAFL District.
RESOURCES
- Freo Dockers Cup Match Ball at the commencement of the competition
- Freo Dockers Cup participation certificates and Freo Dockers posters
- A Freo Dockers Cup for each division winner
- Each coordinator will receive a Freo Dockers Cup Cap
- WAFL players (If available) to umpire games and assist with the presentations
- The chance to play a game as the curtain raiser to the Fremantle v Western Bulldogs game on Sunday 8 July
- The chance to have players attend their school to conduct a training session for their Freo Dockers Cup team
Please note coordinators should contact their WAFC Football Development Officer to organise umpire support. The District will endeavor to provide umpires but this may not be possible for all carnivals. For more information regarding the “Freo Dockers Cup” contact your WAFC Football Development Officer.
Freo Dockers Shield (conducted May to August)
In 2012 primary schools that participate in an interschool one-day lightning carnival organised by either the schools in their District or conducted by their local WAFL Club will compete for the Freo Dockers Shield. In both cases these carnivals will be supported by the WA Football Commission and their local WAFL club. Although the Freo Dockers Shield is targeted primarily towards males in upper primary, female participants are welcome.
FORMAT
To maintain consistency please ensure these standards:
- The games are played under the “AFL Junior Rules” for children aged 11 and 12 years.
- The Carnival Shield to be awarded to the school that accumulates the most points based on the following criteria:
Game: Win 3 points
Draw 2 Points
Lose 1 point
Uniform: Score out of 3
Behaviour Score out of 3
(On and off the field)
1 point deducted for each player sent off the field

- Emphasis on enjoyment, participation and skill learning.
RESOURCES
Schools who play under the Freo Dockers Shield Lightning Carnival format will receive:
- A Freo Dockers Shield for each division winner
- WAFL players (If available) to umpire games and assist with the presentations
- Participation Certificates and posters for all participants
- Two Freo Dockers Shield training balls

Freo Skills 4 Schools - Register - Enter Results
These are curriculum-based football activities to encourage enjoyable team competitions, whilst learning and maintaining football skills. Teachers are provided with educational and promotional resources to assist in the implementation of the Freo Fast Ball, Freo Kwik Kick and Freo Long Bomb competitions. A finals series will be held at either Fremantle Oval or Patersons Stadium for winners. Click here for more information.
West Coast Eagles Development Program
The West Coast Eagles provide a range of programs for primary school children, including the Eagles Rock my School and the Access All Areas competition and the ever popular Eagles Cup. The strong emphasis on education helps ensure the success and relevance of these programs. Eagles Faction Footy - Register
The West Coast Eagles and the WA Football Commission have a fantastic partnership to increase participation in our national game and enhance the fitness and academic skills of thousands of WA students through active participation in EAGLES FACTION FOOTY. Eagles Faction Footy can be conducted as part of the AFL SEPEP and can be successfully incorporated into two hours of compulsory PE and sport per week. Click here for more information. Eagles Cup (conducted May to August) - More Info
The Eagles Cup is a specially designed (minimum three weeks) sponsored primary interschool football competition for year 6 and 7 students. The special modified rules (NAB AFL Junior Rules) allow for maximum participation, enjoyment and skill development. The emphasis should always be on playing for fun rather than on winning.
FORMAT
- Inter school competition
- Year 6/7 students
- Over a minimum of three weeks
Schools without year 7 students on campus will participate as normal. Secondary schools with year 7 students on campus can have their own "All year 7" competition or join a primary school division that has year 7 students participating. For further information contact your WAFC Football Development Officer.
RESOURCES
- An Eagles Cup junior league match ball
- Eagles Cup participation certificate and Eagles poster
- An Eagles Cup trophy for each division winner
- A West Coast Eagles player will present the Eagles Cup trophy (metro only) to winning schools at an assembly
- West Coast Eagles Promotional Packs for incentives or awards
- Eagles Cup information booklet prior to commencement of competition.

All school clinics are a free service to the schools and are conducted by accredited personnel who have been in serviced and hold police clearances and valid Working with Children checks. All equipment is supplied.
