GEOFF Wolfenden has been elected Chairman of the East Fremantle District Football Development Council to lead the strategic drive and oversee growth of the game in the district.
Mr Wolfenden, who won last year’s Ken Armstrong Community Coach of the Year Award as Melville Amateur Football Club’s senior coach, will chair and lead all meetings of the East Fremantle DFDC and oversee the activities of Executive members, special projects, and complaint resolution among member clubs.
As Chairman of the DFDC, Mr Wolfenden will also assume a leadership role for the wider football community and be responsible for working closely with the Smarter than Smoking District Development team including District Manager, Troy Kirkham and Development Officer Brendan Kayes.
He will also be responsible for enhancing the existing strong relationships with District stakeholders including junior and senior clubs and East Fremantle Football Club.
Mr Wolfenden brings a strong corporate background to the DFDC chair as a former General Manager of Jeyco Ltd, Taylor Marine and AMI Wholesale Marine Group and current Managing Director of Universal Nets Pty Ltd.
He also served as a Board Member at Seton Catholic College from 2000 to 2006, holding the Chairpersons position from 2003 to 2006, and is also a Director with the Workability Group – a not for profit organisation assisting people with challenges re-integrate into the workforce.
He has also coached football at a junior level over the past 19 years including at Melville Junior Football Club, South Coogee Junior Football Club and Kardinya Junior Football Club.
