East Fremantle President steps down

EAST Fremantle Football Club President, John McManus, has resigned from the Board of the East Fremantle Football Club to pursue a commercial opportunity in Karratha.

John has been President of the Club since 2008 and has been instrumental in the increased competitiveness of the Club through this period, which included a return to finals action in 2010 for the first time since 2002.

John has expressed his disappointment at not being able to continue in the role but has confidence in his succession and the position of his beloved Club on his departure.

The Board of the East Fremantle Football Club has endorsed Vice President, Con Tripi, as President for the 2012 season.  Con has been a Board Member since 2003 and had been in the role of Senior Football Director.  Con is the founder and Managing Director of Imperial Homes.

Recently elected Board member, Darren Gaspar, will become Senior Football Director and the vacancy created through John McManus’ departure will be filled by Ian Massara, who stood for election at the 2011 AGM in December.

Ian is the former Managing Director of Australian Mine Services, a company that he established with wife Julie and developed into one of Australia’s leading mine maintenance companies before selling to Leighton Contractors.

The Board of Directors followed the election order in making this appointment.  Gary Stockden, who had received the fourth most votes at the 2011 AGM election of Directors, declined an offer to re-join the Board with this offer being subsequently made to Ian Massara, who was fifth in the election.

The East Fremantle Football Club is well positioned for season 2012 with the seamless succession of Con Tripi to the Presidency and the addition of Darren and Ian to the Board of Directors.
