2023 Design a Jumper Competition Winners RevealedWednesday, December 13, 2023 - 8:51 AM

Christ Church Grammar School in Claremont and St Paul’s Primary School in Karratha will be running out in new football jumpers next season after taking out their respective categories in the 2023 Design a Jumper Competition.

Several high-quality entries were received from around Western Australia this year.

The winning schools in the metropolitan and regional categories have been presented with a full set of new football jumpers in their winning designs.

West Australian Football Commission Schools Specialist Regan Atkinson thanked Burley Sekem for their continued support of the competition.

“Once again this initiative has been embraced by schools across the state and its popularity continues to grow,” Atkinson said.

“It is a great way for children in the classroom to link with Australian Football, while providing students an opportunity to showcase their artistic side.”.

The Christ Church jumper was designed by student Year 6 pupil Oliver Swann, whose design was inspired by his school’s traditional colours.

Oliver decided to use a torch at the front of the jumper, which represents the values of the school within sport and learning.

The back of the jumper recognises the Swan River, where the blue is water and yellow is the land.

The St Paul’s Primary School jumper is the work of Year 6 student Ishi Valdez, who chose a mix of wildlife, fauna and the skyline which best represents Karratha.

The Design a Jumper Competition is back again for 2024, and students are encouraged to take part.
